Mr. Buti Saeed Al Ghandi and Professor Karim Chelli are the two people that co-founded the Canadian University Dubai. Professor Karim Chelli does not have much information about him however Mr. Buti Saeed has a huge list of experience currently and in the past. Mr. Buti Saeed is not only the chancellor of Canadian University Dubai but also is the Chairman for Emirates Investment & Development PSC and Managing Director at Meethaq Employment Agency. Also, he is on the board of Commercial Bank of Dubai, Dubai World Trade Centre LLC etc. (MarketScreener: 2021). Combined with the knowledge of the Academic industry from Professor Karim Chelli and the knowledge of the Business industry from Mr. Buti Saeed, they are both running CUD and growing the University day-by-day. With major changes in the recent years they have brought in new professors and new personnel to run departments. The communication department is now led by Professor Odekhiren Amaize who is pushing for changes within the department. Under his leadership he has pushed for IAA and PRSA accreditations for the different communication courses in CUD. This only pushes CUD to become more valuable as more people would prefer enrolling into accredited programs.
The reasoning behind opening the new Music and Dramatic Arts department is the fact that it would also expand what CUD can offer. People that are interested in the field will enrol and CUD’s gain from this would be very beneficial. There are not any universities in the UAE that are devoted to Music and Dramatic Arts, they are mostly dominated by institutes. This opens a lot of opportunities for CUD to be well recognized across UAE and the Middle-East. It is known that partnership deals with Universities abroad is also built by Prof. Karim Chelli and Mr. Buti Saeed. So far with their management skills they are slowly making the Canadian University Dubai a recognisable name in the industry.
